Designed Around Your Depot
Every depot is different. Layout, rail vehicle movements, maintenance activities, existing infrastructure and operating procedures all influence the appropriate protection solution.
Early involvement allows FirstClass engineers to support risk assessment and system design while identifying protection, control, interlocking, integration and infrastructure requirements before they become costly changes later in a project.
RFID & Personnel Management
RFID technology can be incorporated into a Depot Protection System to identify and track personnel and vehicles in real time.
The technology can also support training, maintenance and permit records and can integrate with wider site security, CCTV and access control systems. Where required, RFID functionality can form part of an integrated Depot Protection and Depot Control solution.
SCADA, Monitoring & Traceability
FirstClass Depot Protection Systems can incorporate SCADA to provide real-time system status. Historical alarms, events and operator actions can be recorded for traceability, while diagnostic information and remote support capabilities help identify faults and minimise operational downtime.
Integration with Depot Equipment
FirstClass systems can integrate and interlock with equipment including depot doors, lifting jacks, bogie drops, turntables, wheel and underfloor lathes, train washes, fuelling systems, shore supplies, ventilation, hoists, cranes and other relevant depot infrastructure.
Where OLE/OHL is present, protection can also incorporate fixed and mobile access platforms, Mansafe equipment, cranes, hoists, jacks and other equipment that could potentially interact with the overhead line.
Upgrading Existing Depot Protection Systems
A new system does not always mean replacing everything already installed.
FirstClass can assess existing, legacy and obsolete systems, infrastructure and equipment to determine what can practically be retained, supported, modified or integrated. Existing Depot Protection Systems can be upgraded or extended as depot layouts, rolling stock, equipment and operating requirements change.
This approach can reduce unnecessary capital expenditure and minimise disruption while providing the required safety and control functionality.
Long-Term Support
FirstClass provides remote and site-based support, maintenance and system modifications to help customers maintain system performance and respond to changing operational requirements throughout the life of the installation.
