FirstClass Safety & Control has shipped Depot Protection System equipment to Australia for the Sydney Metro project following successful Factory Acceptance Testing

FirstClass Safety & Control has reached another international project milestone, with Depot Protection System equipment now shipped to Australia for the Sydney Metro project following successful Factory Acceptance Testing.

Working alongside Australian partner Freightquip, FirstClass has designed, manufactured and supplied a bespoke Depot Protection System to support safe maintenance operations within the new depot.

The system integrates with key depot infrastructure and provides safety interlocking between rail vehicle movements, overhead line equipment, lifting equipment, wheel lathes, shore supplies and other critical maintenance assets.

The solution also incorporates operator control panels, RFID-based personnel protection, warning beacons, audible alarms and supervisory control, bringing together the required safety functions within an integrated system.

The project demonstrates FirstClass’s ability to engineer and manufacture application-specific depot safety systems in the UK for delivery to major international rail projects.

Following shipment, FirstClass will continue to support Freightquip and Siemens Mobility through the installation and commissioning phases as the system progresses towards operation.

The Sydney Metro project adds to FirstClass’s growing international rail portfolio, which includes projects across Australia, New Zealand and the Middle East.
